Perilous knives are made to be dangerous.

They’re forged at 2000°, hardened, and sharpened to slice through bone. If you want something safe, we recommend poultry shears. Because Perilous knives will cut anything in your kitchen.

Including you.

“Sometimes the perilous path
is the only path.”

FAQs

Are you currently accepting orders?

I’m always open to new projects, but am rarely accepting orders. The best way to get on the waitlist is to contact me directly. Because a knife takes hours to make across several days, I never “juggle” more than one knife at a time. That way when it’s time for your knife to be made, it will have my full attention.

Who buys custom knives?

The type of discerning customers who purchase custom, handmade knives are typically knife enthusiasts, collectors, or culinary professionals who value superior craftsmanship.

Because we’re located along the Appalachian Trail, we also create knives for outdoor enthusiasts seeking rugged and specialized designs, as well as luxury goods enthusiasts appreciating the exclusivity and craftsmanship involved. These customers are willing to invest in handmade knives for their quality, uniqueness, and the personal touch of a handcrafted product.

How long does it take to forge a knife by hand?

Knives come in all different shapes and sizes, so it’s difficult to give a generalized time frame for making a knife by hand. The overall process, including forging, grinding, heat treating, and finishing is labor-intensive, and can vary based on design.

As a rule of thumb, expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours forging a custom knife by hand for simple designs. More complex designs may take up to 20 hours or more, depending on customization, materials, and detail.
